Breaking through the noise: the role of media in advocacy   

Getting your issue covered by media can be a powerful way to raise awareness with the public and put pressure on decisionmakers. Yet it can be tough to break through the noise in an ever more crowded media landscape. Join us to hear from media experts on how we can better harness the power of the media for positive change.

Ending economic inequality: why it matters for the health and wellbeing of all

We are living in a period of entwined crisis’ which has resulted in an uptick in economic inequality. At both the household and country level people are struggling to pay off debt and deal with the consequences of the climate emergency and a financial system that is stacked against them. Systemic change is needed and this session will do a deep dive into some of the proposed solutions from social protection to debt forgiveness and bank reforms.

Voices for change: centering the child in emergency contexts 

One in four children around the globe live with protracted conflict, natural disasters and other emergency crises resulting in decreases in routine immunizations, increased cases of malnutrition, a global learning crisis, and a decline in maternal and newborn health.  In this session panellists will explore why the global community must prioritize and center a whole of child approach in emergency contexts.

Decolonizing aid: beyond a buzz word

There is a growing interest around “decolonizing aid” in recent years – with an influx of conferences, webinars, talks, op-eds, and articles on the issue. This panel will bring together experts, including those working directly with communities in low-and-middle income countries, to reflect on going beyond mere rhetoric to disrupt the colonial foundations of aid for more impact and relevance.
